It may only be February, but the Bridge City Knights are already into full swing. The second year NAFL team has been busy preparing for the upcoming 2010 minor league football season.
A little over two months removed from their NAFL Final 4 meltdown, the Central Penn Piranha were seeking to finish the season strong by winning the American Football News Today AAA National Championship Game against the Central Florida Thoroughbreds (14-1) in Homestead, Florida.
Unfortunately for Central Penn, the outcome was the same.
In November 2009, the DC Explosion were celebrating a 12-8 victory over the Chicago Wolverines in the NAFL CB Championship Game, played in Miami. Two months later they were back on the field in Homestead, Florida (south of Miami) competing for a National Championship.
During the Sunshine Bowl / USA Bowl Extravaganza weekend (January 15-17), the American Football News Today inducted forty-four new members into its 2010 Hall of Fame. Five of those members came from the NAFL. The official induction took place on the evening of January 14.
Every year the revolving door of NFL kickers continues to spin. However, throughout the entire 2009 season, it seems to have gotten out of control. Every week when fans are watching a game, there's a good chance that one of the kickers is going to miss an easy or very makeable field goal, or even an extra point attempt.
